Diagnostic evaluation is the term we use to describe our process of getting to know our clients. This process includes questions about the person’s mood and behavior to better understand what symptoms might be most difficult for the person. This process can also include questions about the person’s past behavior and life experiences.
The goal of these evaluations is to determine a client’s mental health diagnosis so that we can provide the most effective treatment. Sometimes this process can include tests and assessments the person fills out; in other instances, it is just a conversation. The approach taken is based on the person’s unique needs. Again, this process is very important for mental health treatment. With a full understanding of the person and an accurate diagnosis, their treatment is most effective.
